Around this time of year I start taking deeper breathes. I take them often to force myself to relax and stay calm knowing the 8 week Holiday Season Countdown is creeping upon us. Deep sigh… Many decisions and discussions to be made, from which fall events to attend, hosting Thanksgiving and then gift giving for everyone and the pooch on your list. Deep breathe…all together now….Inhhhale….exhhhale! The Organizer in me analyzes all the moving parts to be extremely intentional with my time and planning for our family AND our Teachable Tips readers too!
Don’t fret, just bounce down to this week’s {FREE PRINTABLE}…Don’t Become a Bobblehead this Holiday Season–Series 1.
When in doubt always better to plan ahead than not plan at all.
Halloween Costume Deadline – my kids are given an October 1st Costume Decision Deadline. If they want to go beyond that budget, they can contribute using their allowance money which usually narrows spending and choices immediately. Phew!
Costume Tips- we always buy a top the kids would enjoy wearing again. Last year Devon was Iron Man and Oliver was Captain America. Target sold jackets with hood style masks, I bought one prop for each boy, face paint, crazy hair and voila…costume was checked off the list and the jackets were worn for school all year long. When they were younger I invested in whimsical pj sets.
Duct Tape – It is my favorite go-to for adding big impact without the big price. Pinterest is an obvious inspiration for ideas, but set yourself a timer so you’re not lost for hours in “Pinterest Land” and your family doesn’t need to send a search party out for your return!
FREE Boo Printable – In our Scottsdale Ranch Community we have tons of trick or treaters which means tons of candy to provide for everyone. We prefer to head out as a family therefore can’t personally oversee the candy bowl from the greedy, ungrateful candy grabbers when we aren’t home. It led to me to create my nifty FREE Boo Candy Printable telling kiddos that spooky eyes are watching them if they take more than one piece of candy. Laminate Printable or place in a clear protective sleeve to reuse again each year.
Display Tips – Upon leaving the house I use a small piece of duct tape to adhere the back of the Boo Candy Printable which is placed INSIDE the candy bowl. This assures the kids to read and respect the one candy per kid rule. Surprisingly, scaring the fear into them really works! Wha ha haaaaaaa!
